There are many hospitals who are on the old standards of the American Heart Association. The new ACLS certification requires new skills and additional knowledge of the algorithms. The V-Fib and V-Tach algorithm has been merged with the Asystole protocol. CPR is highly emphasized with minimum interruption. Intubation has taken a backseat as well with the Combitube coming to the forefront. Having these new skills under your belt will increase the chance for patient survival. Take the opportunity to attend the new AHA updated courses.
