The Certified EKG Technician is a valuable team member of the medical staff who is responsible for performing 3 lead and 12 lead EKG’s in the non-emergent setting as well as in the emergency room environment.
A patient may arrive for a routine healthcare screening or may be experiencing shortness of breath with severe chest pain. Performing an EKG is paramount in order to diagnose if the patient is having Angina or a Myocardial Infarction which would require definitive care.
Certified EKG Technicians utilize their specialized skills and knowledge in the emergency room, clinics, acute care facilities, doctor offices as well as the cardiac ICU. The medical staff relies heavily on the EKG Technician to perform these critical diagnostic test to record potentially lethal heart rhythms which may be life threatening.
The EKG Technician Certification course prepares you to challenge the NHA National Certification Exam. The NHA Exam fee and the EKG textbook are additional cost to the student.
Prerequisite: High School Diploma or equivalency. All course work online as well as off line must be completed in its entirety. Those students who do not complete their course work will not be allowed to challenge the NHA National Certification Exam.
