Patients that have a ventricular arrhythmia more often than not will require medical treatment. Ventricular Tachycardia is one such rhythm that can cause cardiac arrest if not treated appropriately. Amiodarone has become the medication of choice if the patient is stable. However, you should never delay treatment with energy if the patient is unstable. If the patient has a pulse, you should use Synchronized Cardioversion. If the patient is without a pulse, you should deliver an unsynchronized shock of 360 joules monophasic. Do not loose sight of the main goal.  We are trying to correct the ventricular arrhythmia and restore perfusion to its natural fashion. As medical professionals, we all strive to correct any life threats that a patient may have.
